Telesis lost the first match of a three-team doubleheader Friday, to Gilbert Early College , 12-25, 20-25, 12-25. Then rallied to defeat Bullhead City Mohave Accelerated Learning Center, 25-20, 27-25, 21-25, 16-25, 17-15.
GEC also swept MALC, 25-11, 25-15, 25-13, in the other match at the Lake Havasu City Community Center.
“The girls figured out what it takes to fight to get a win,” said Telesis head coach Darren Carson.
The key in the win over MALC proved to be Yamani Koyye. The senior middle hitter was called on to do defensive duty and, with the Lady Tigers down in the fifth game, dug ball-after-ball to give the Telesis offense the opportunity to attack."
